Many customers come to farmers markets early in the season wondering why they can't find corn, melons, or bell peppers. Farmers and gardeners know that those are examples of warmer-season vegetables and fruits, that require lots of sunshine and heat to grow. Our cooler-than-normal spring delayed many crops, and there has been an abundance of greens, root veggies and salad greens at the market. But now that we are experiencing our normal heat wave, we'll start seeing many of these classic "summer" treats at the farmers markets. This week you'll find corn at Rabbit Run Farm, tomatoes and garlic at Whipstone, peppers at Chino Valley, flowers at Ladybug's Flowers and The Flower Lady, worm castings at All Organics, and melons at AbbyLee Farms. Sunnyside Farm joins us in the community booth with green onions, radishes, and other goodies. Plus: music from Tim and Sarah Crews chef demos by the Prescott Slow Food group guest artist Madeline Groves Join us Saturday 7:30-noon! See you at the market!
