In addition to offering weekly markets in Prescott, Prescott Valley and Chino Valley, our mission is to educate the community about the the importance of local food. Please read about our programs below and consider donating your time and/or money to support our work.
Last spring we were given a large collection of locally grown seeds. We’ve hosted 3 seed exchanges at the education booth this summer and our ultimate goal is to make the collection available to the public through the Yavapai library network. Ideally the community would be able to donate seeds from their gardens and/or choose seeds from a seed library at several locations. You can read about a similar program here.
PFM is in the process of developing opportunities for farmers to attend trainings, conferences and workshops to improve their businesses. By supporting Farmer Development, your donation supports things like transportation, conference fees, space rental and planning. Our hope is that through our Farmer Development program, local growers will expand production and distribution, contributing to a thriving local foods community.
Each week we have an education booth at our Prescott market. Some of our most popular activities have been the annual apple cider pressing, guest chefs, the seed exchange and blind taste tests of market produce.
